New photos from the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2 film have been released, showcasing various characters.
The images were shared by Entertainment Weekly and can be viewed on their platform. The photos clearly show Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, Martyn Ford as Shao Kahn, and Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion.
According to Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon, Cage's role in the second Mortal Kombat movie will be significant but different from the games. "He's a washed-up Hollywood guy who gets thrown into this magical, extremely violent situation. Karl’s portrayal of Johnny Cage differs from the games—he adds his own style to it, but I think it brings a fresh take."
A sequel to Mortal Kombat was announced back in 2022, and it has now been confirmed that the film will hit theaters on October 24. The screenplay is written by Jeremy Slater (Moon Knight, Fantastic Four), while Simon McQuoid returns as the director.
