The classic real-time strategy game Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition is officially coming to PlayStation 5 on May 6.

The PS5 release was announced earlier this year alongside Age of Mythology: Retold, which is already available on the console. Now, it’s been confirmed that Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition will follow suit in early May.

The Premium Edition of the game on PS5 will include all previously released DLC and grants players early access five days before the official launch. Meanwhile, the Standard Edition will only include the bonus mission “The Mountain Royals” for those who pre-order.

On the same day, a brand-new expansion titled The Three Kingdoms will be released for all versions of the game. This DLC introduces three new campaigns based on the iconic Romance of the Three Kingdoms era and its legendary founders. The expansion will be priced at €20, though it is currently available at a discount on Steam. It will also be included in the PS5 Premium Edition.

Originally released on PC in 2019 and later on Xbox in 2023, Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition features all content from the original game. This includes an impressive roster of 83 maps, 42 civilizations, and 34 single-player campaigns.

Fans of the genre can look forward to reliving the classic experience with a fresh console-friendly setup—enhanced for PlayStation 5.
